2nd time doing Music Matters Live as the Assistant Stage Manager for Fountain Stage. I get to work with the same group of people. It was freaking awesome. Discovered a lot of new bands with really great music.
The 1st night as usual, my job was pretty much bar / club hopping to ensure that all bands performing at the respective bars / clubs are doing fine and happy with the set-ups. It was kind of nice to realize that you are still working but more like chilling while listening to great music from bands from all around the world. Pretty much by 12.30am, I was done for the night.
On the 2nd night, had to report at Clarke Quay by 12pm because the Kpop artistes wanted to do sound check at 2pm. So we had to be there early to oversee everything. In the end, their sound check & line check took up 4 and half hours instead of the allocated 3 hours. On schedule of the day was delayed by 30 minutes because of them. All in all, Morgan Bain was the best act of the night. I completely love his music and vocals.
As for the 3rd night, let's just say most of the bands were freaking awesome. I was in my own world at stage right dancing to their own music. Bastian Baker, Coin Banks, Manceau, Mama's Gun, Jeremy Loops, Goodluck and Gush were really great. Halfway through the show, we realized that we were 15 minutes ahead of schedule. Because of that, we allowed some bands additional time for them to play an extra one or two songs. We did end the show on time, though.
During the last night, let's just say I was really impressed by how efficient all 10 bands were. I don't even need to call any of them at all. All of them reported on time, started setting up accordingly and everything was on on schedule. The last night of the event was officially the best night. The Never Ever, Buckman Coe, Hey Geronimo, Our Man in Berlin, Gentle Bones, Cloud Maze and Time Giant were really great. Their songs were crazy good.
We had a wrap-up party at The Timbre @ Substation. Well, I came for the free food and to watch Teen Sensations perform live, not really watch the band, I was more obsessed with watching Jeremy Neale perform. I have a huge crush on him since he came over Singapore last year for Music Matters Live. I really did not expect to see him ever again. Now, I officially know how it feels to be an official fan girl. I was so freaking ecstatic that I got to meet him, took a few pictures with him, hugged him a few times and even talked to him. I am so in love with him and I'm still smiling because of last night.
Apparently, Teo told me that I would most probably be the Stage Manager for next year's Music Matters Live since Za won't be able to do it for next year's event. As much as I am grateful, I am freaking out at the same time but at least, I got a year to prepare for it. It was nice to see familiar faces dropping by for the event from Sheena, Patrick, Michelle, Sarina, Melissa, Razil, Lira, Nazirah, Grace, Tricia and Nips. Here's to hoping that I will get to do Music Matters Live again for next year. In Shaa' Allah.
In Shaa' Allah, I will graduate with First Class Honours and get the Best Graduate Award. Amin.
