Broke

Can I start crying already?
  • 26th June till 10th July in Hamburg, Germany.
  • 3rd August till 10th August in Bangkok, Thailand.
  • 24th October till 2nd November in Tokyo, Japan.

The more I planned my trips, the more I realized that I am actually very broke. I'm not regular broke, I'm bougie broke, I'm broqué. I mean I do have enough money to cover all my basic expenses and allowances while I am in Singapore. And for all my overseas trip, I am recalculating my finances constantly. I'm trying to fit things within my restrictions and trying my best not to tap into my credit card. But from the looks of it, I might go into credit card debt because of this.

Basically, I bought my Bangkok and Tokyo flight tickets quite early in the year, to enjoy the cheap pricing. I managed to reserve the hotels that I wanted. Had a rough outline of my itinerary of the things I was planning to do. Decided on my budget for shopping in both cities and also the activities that I planned for. I was confident that I would be able to stick to my budget.

Then around end of April, I was informed that my company would like to send me to the headquarters in Hamburg. So the flight, hotel and a daily allowance of €20 are provided by the company, which is quite a substantial amount but because I know that I have 2 weekends to myself, I have already planning quite a few activities to do while I'm there. And lastly, I found out that the LV Keepall Bandouliere 25 that I have been aiming for since last year, is at least SGD500 difference if I was to buy it in Hamburg. There goes my money.

It's only June but I'm already broke for the rest of the year. My financial status will be tight but honestly, I am excited about the experiences that I will have from my trips.

It will be my first time going to Hamburg and I'm quite excited to meet up with my German colleagues and learn new things from them. Something completely different from what I have been doing since the start of my career. Returning to Bangkok again, there's always something new to explore there every time I go back to that city. I'm really need to make it as an annual trip. Lastly, I'm finally going back to Tokyo after 10 years. 10 years ago, I went to Tokyo as part of my school trip. Even though we managed to explore it as part of the curriculum, it wasn't enough. I'm looking forward to having 10 days getting lost in the city.

In Shaa' Allah, everything will be fine.
